What This Package Does
-----------------------
The Video Features II for OS/2 provides drivers to:
 - Improve the drawing performance on the display
 - Provide a resolution up to 1280x1024 for a CRT monitor
 - Provide various color depths: 256, 64K, or 16M for a CRT monitor

The following models are supported:
   - ThinkPad 560, 560E
   - ThinkPad 760ED
   - ThinkPad 760E (see note 1), 760EL (see note 2)
   - ThinkPad 760XD, 760XL
   - ThinkPad 765D, 765L

   Notes:
     1. For ThinkPad 760E users:
        If your display (LCD) is SVGA (800x600), do not
        install this package.  Instead, install the Video Features
        Diskette I for OS/2.

     2. For ThinkPad 760EL users:
        If the machine type is 9547-x4G, 9547-x4K or 9547-x4T,
        install this package.

 - (Fix) The desktop corrupts when an AVI file is opened
         using MediaPlayer on a 75Hz CRT monitor configured for 1024x768
         resolution with 64K colors.
 - (Fix) The rightmost and bottom of the virtual screen is not displayed.
 - (Fix) Pixels corrupt when a virtual screen with 16M colors are
         used.
 - (Fix) (ThinkPad 560 DSTN model only)
         The mouse pointer corrupts when the display device is
         switched from the CRT monitor to the LCD and the resolution is
         changed.
 - (Fix) (ThinkPad 560 DSTN model only)
         The WIN-OS/2 full screen corrupts with the
         configuration of 1024x768 resolution with 256 colors
         during the return from the OS/2 desktop,
         when the resolution is changed automatically during the switch
         of the display device from CRT to LCD.
 - (Fix) (ThinkPad 560 DSTN model only)
         An OS/2 desktop blackout occurs when a WIN-OS/2
         seamless session is opened with the dynamic-resolution
         change enabled.
 - (Fix) The overlay position shifts when an AVI file is played
         back using MediaPlayer and the LCD screen expansion is
         switched on or off.
 - (Fix) The overlay position is wrong when an AVI
         file is played back on a CRT monitor and the refresh rate is
         changed between interlace and noninterlace using the ThinkPad
         Features program.
 - (Fix) The second playback window corrupts when an AVI file is
         opened using MediaPlayer or an AVI file is played back using
         MediaPlayer with 64K colors.
 - (Fix) The overlay position shifts on the LCD with screen
         expansion enabled when the display device is switched between
         a TV and the LCD.
 - (Fix) (ThinkPad 560 DSTN model only)
         The overlay position shifts while an AVI file is
         played back on the LCD configured for 640x480 resolution
         with 256 colors.
 - (Fix) (ThinkPad 560 DSTN model only)
         Playback is not done on a hardware overlay when an AVI file
         is played back using MediaPlayer on a CRT monitor that is
         configured for 1024x768 resolution with 256 colors.
 - (Fix) The mouse trail corrupts in a WIN-OS/2 full screen on
         an LCD that is configured for 800x600 resolution with
         64K colors when a ThinkPad computer with a Trident Cyber9385/82
         video chip uses video memory less than 1MB.

OS/2 version
 - (Fix) (ThinkPad 560 TFT model and 760ED only)
         Playback is not done on a hardware overlay when an AVI file
         with an image width more than 384 dots is played back.
 - (Fix) The system hangs when switching to the OS/2 desktop
         from a full screen session on OS/2 Warp V4.
 - (Fix) Fonts corrupt when Lotus Notes V4.1 is used.
 - (Fix) System hangs when Lotus Notes V4.1 is used.
 - (Fix) (ThinkPad 560 TFT model and 760ED only)
         An AVI file is not played back with a hardware overlay when a
         part of the playback window is out of screen.

WIN-OS/2 version
 - (Fix) The system hangs during a frequent switch between the
         OS/2 desktop and a WIN-OS/2 full screen.
 - (Fix) A screen blackout occurs after a VIO pop-up is displayed
         in a WIN-OS/2 full-screen session and then the screen returns to the
         WIN-OS/2 session.
 - (FIX) The WIN-OS/2 full screen does not start up when the specified
         desktop is larger than the LCD.
 - (Fix) A Windows general protection fault occurs during the
         installation of the Xing MPEG player.
 - (Fix) A Windows general protection fault occurs at the
         Version submenu in the Range menu when Lotus 1-2-3 is used in a
         WIN-OS/2 seamless session.
 - (FIX) AmiPro does not print the styled underline correctly with a
         Canon BJC-400J printer.
 - (FIX) A bitmap in the help file does not show 64K colors correctly.

 - (Fix) The system proportional font is not displayed correctly.

WIN-OS/2 version
 - (Fix) A blackout occurs even if a WIN-OS/2 full screen is
         started in the background.
 - (Fix) The system box menu in Excel 5.0 corrupts in a
         WIN-OS/2 full screen during the switch to the OS/2-desktop during
         the Excel initialization.
 - (Fix) An incorrect wallpaper pattern is displayed when 16M
         colors are used.

OS/2 version
 - (Fix) The installation program reports error messages to a
         DSPINSTL.LOG file when no installation error occurred.
 - (Fix) The virtual screen is disabled when a full-screen session
         returns to the OS/2 desktop and 64K colors are used.
 - (Fix) (ThinkPad 560 TFT model and 760ED only)
         Playback is not done on a hardware overlay when an AVI file with
         a large image width is played back in 800x600
         resolution with 16M colors or 1024x768 resolution with
         64K colors.

WIN-OS/2 version
 - (Fix) (Version 1.12 only)
         The screen corrupts in a WIN-OS/2 seamless session when
         a screen bitblt is called.
 - (Fix) A blackout occurs during a frequent switch between
         a WIN-OS/2 full screen and the OS/2 desktop during the WIN-OS/2
         full-screen initialization.
 - (Fix) Color corrupts on the icons in the tool bar of
         PowerPoint 4.0 when a WIN-OS/2 full screen is started in
         the background.
 - (Fix) The mouse pointer is not located at the center of a screen
         when a WIN-OS/2 full screen is started in the background.

 - (Fix) GP fault with FoxPro 2.6 under WIN-OS/2.
 - (Fix) Blackground color is changed to black in 64K color mode with
         some applications under WIN-OS/2.

Installation Guide
------------------
Note: This driver is only for the Trident Cyber9385/82 video chip.

<Preparation>
If you are reinstalling the display driver in a system that already has
an old version of that driver installed, do the following:
If not, skip this procedure.

1. Turn on the computer and start OS/2.
2. When a small white box appears in the upper left corner of the
   screen, press Alt+F1.
3. When the Recovery Choices screen appears:
   - In Warp Version 3: press V.
   - In Warp Version 4: press F3.
4. Shut down OS/2 after the VGA driver is installed.
5. Turn off the computer.

<Installation>
1. Turn on the computer and start OS/2.
2. Set the display device to LCD only.
3. Insert the ThinkPad Video Features Diskette II for OS/2 into
   the diskette drive.
4. Open an OS/2 window or a full-screen command prompt.
5. Type A: at the command prompt and press Enter.
6. Type INSTALL at the A:\> prompt and press Enter:
      A:\>INSTALL
7. Follow the instructions on the screen.
8. After the installation is complete, remove the diskette, shut down
   OS/2, and restart the computer.
