IBM WebSphere Developer for zSeries, Fix Pack Fix 6.0.0.1 Installation Instructions

This document describes how to install IBM WebSphere® Developer for zSeries Fix Pack 6.0.0.1 either directly from the IBM Rational Product update site or from a downloadable, self extracting file. If you install directly from the IBM Rational product update site, installation is performed through the Help -> Software Updates -> IBM Rational Product Updater capability built into the product. You also have the option of downloading a self extracting file that you can extract and then install locally from your machine using Help -> Software Updates -> IBM Rational Product Updater

To install this Fix Pack, you need only follow the self extracting file installation instructions or follow the IBM Rational Product Updater installation instructions. Do not try to perform both types of installation on the same machine.

Follow the instructions below carefully
If you have disabled any plug-ins either through Update Manager or by modifying plugin.xml files, enable them prior to installation.

Self Extracting file for local installations

It is recommended that you install directly from the IBM server, but a downloadable version of the fix is available for users who meet the following criteria:

Have slow or unstable Internet connections and would like use a download manager with resume capability
Have trouble accessing the live IBM server from behind firewalls
Would rather download the fixes and install at a later time
Are site administrators for a group of developers who do not have direct access to the Internet

Once you have downloaded the file, extract the files to a directory and Read the Installation Instructions for the self extracting file

Installing the IBM WebSphere Developer for zSeries Version 6.0.0.1 Fix Pack using the IBM Rational Product Updater

Remote Install via the IBM WebSphere Developer for zSeries Update Site

Start the IBM Rational Product Updater. You can do this either of two ways:
1. From the Start menu:
  - Navigate to Start -> Programs -> IBM Rational -> IBM Rational Product Updater.
2. From inside the workbench:
  - Start the workbench from the Start menu by navigating to Start -> Programs -> IBM WebSphere -> IBM WebSphere Developer for zSeries V6.0 -> WebSphere Developer for zSeries.
  - Launch the IBM Rational Product Updater via Help -> Software Updates -> IBM Rational Product Updater.
In the IBM Rational Product Updater panel, click the button labeled "Find Updates." Under IBM WebSphere Developer for zSeries Version 6.0.0, "Fix Pack 1" version 6.0.0.1 will appear in the list of available updates.
If IBM WebSphere Developer for zSeries is currently running, you will need to shut down the product before installing the update. The update will not install while the workbench is running.
Select the IBM WebSphere Developer for zSeries update and click the button labeled "Install Updates." This will begin the install process.
Follow the instructions on the screen to install the update.
Once the update is complete, the "Installed Products" tab of the IBM Rational Product Updater should show IBM WebSphere Developer for zSeries Version 6.0.0.1.
If the Help -> About is brought up in the workbench dialog, there will be a WebSphere icon which can be clicked. If the Fix Pack has been installed that should show, for WebSphere Developer for zSeries, version 6.0.0.1 and the build date will be 20050719_0952.
