Installation Instructions

This document describes how to install IBM WebSphere Studio Enterprise Developer Interim Fix 5.0.1.15 either directly from the IBM update site or from a downloadable, self extracting file. If you install directly from the IBM update site, installation is performed through the Help -> Software Updates -> New Updates capability built into the product. You also have the option of downloading a self extracting file that you can extract and then install locally from your machine using Help -> Software Updates ->Update Manager .

To install this Interim Fix you need only follow the self extracting file installation instructions or follow the Update Manager installation instructions. Do not try to perform both types of installation on the same machine.

Please Note: There are known issues that may result in problems during or after applying the fix. To ensure a proper installation:

• Follow the instructions below carefully
• If you have disabled any plug-ins either through Update Manager or by modifying plugin.xml files, enable them prior to installation.
• Interim Fix 5.0.1.14 must be installed before Interim Fix 5.0.1.15 can be installed
• To completely install the WebSphere Studio Application Develop Integration Edition 5.0.1 Cumulative Fix 002 fixes included in Interim Fix 5.0.1.15, the WebSphere Studio Application Developer Integration Edition 5.x RunTime fixes must also be installed separately from Interim Fix 5.0.1.15.

Self Extracting file for local installations

It is recommended that you install directly from the IBM server, but a downloadable version of the fix is available for users who meet the following criteria:

• Have slow or unstable Internet connections and would like use a download manager with resume capability
• Have trouble accessing the live IBM server from behind firewalls
• Would rather download the fixes and install at a later time
• Are site administrators for a group of developers who do not have direct access to the Internet

Once you have downloaded the file, extrace the files to a directory and Read the Installation Instructions for the self extracting file

Install IBM WebSphere Studio Enterprise Developer Interim Fix 5.0.1.15 using Update Manager

1. Log on to your system with an id that has write permission to the install location and start WebSphere Studio Enterprise Developer 5.0.1. (This is typically an id with Administrator authority on Windows).
   
   
2. Open the Install/Update perspective (select Help > Software Updates > New Updates).
   
   
3. Select ALL
   
   
4. Once you have read and accepted the license, click Finish
   
   
5. Click Install to begin the installation.
   
   
6. If you are warned that you are about to install an unsigned feature, click Install to continue.
   This warning will not cause problems during installation.
   
   
7. When the installation is complete you will be asked to restart the product. Click Yes.
   Note: This action will not reboot your machine.
   
   
8. To confirm that the installation was successful, click on Help > About WebSphere Studio Enterprise Developer > v5.0.1.15 shows on the splash screen.
