2400 BPS Pocket FaxModem (250-3105) Features Faxback Doc. # 5760

This pocket-size faxmodem combines a 2400/1200/300 BPS Hayes-compatible
modem with 9600/7200/4800/2400 send fax capability and 4800/2400
receive fax capability. It uses a Rockwell Class 1 faxmodem chip for
superior performance, and plugs into the serial port of any computer,
including laptops and notebooks. Thanks to its small size and light
weight, it is extremely transportable.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

This faxmodem is a Hayes and CCITT V.22 bis/V.22 compatible auto-dial/auto
-answer modem that provides all the fallback and operation requirements
for asynchronous data communications at 2400, 1200, and 300 BPS. It
supports the current Hayes command for asynchronous operation, including
all S register, AT commands, and dial commands. It also supports the
V.27ter and V.29 fax protocols for sending a fax at 9600, 7200, 4800, or
2400 BPS and receiving a fax at 4800 or 2400 BPS, and can automatically
sense and adjust to the speed of a slower fax machine. Settings and phone
numbers can be saved to the faxmodem's non-volatile memory.

Special features include superior call progress tone detection, a high
-power micro speaker and amplifier with software volume control for better
call monitoring, adaptive equalization, MOV varistor lightning protection,
and automatic low power consumption when not in use.

The faxmodem supports the Rockwell Protocol Interface, to facilitate
efficient software implementation of error correction (V.42, MNP2-4) and
data compression (V.42bis, MNP5). With appropriate software, this
faxmodem will perform these functions as well as modems that do so via
hardware.
