prepare it to store and access the operating system and other files.

Follow these steps to initialize the SmartDrive if you are using MS-DOS:

1. For MS-DOS version 5.0 or 6.0:

After you start up the system from the MS-DOS operating system diskette,
exit the install procedure and use the fdisk command to partition the
   hard drive.

2. Use the format command to format the partition. Format the active
partition with the /s switch (format c:/s) to copy the MS-DOS system
files to the partition and make it bootable.

3. Remove the diskette from Drive A and reset the computer to start up from
   the hard drive.

You are now ready to install all of the original software from the CD-ROM.
